OobyDooby---interesting, but how can this be the origin of this energy when it requires energy of it's own initiated elsewhere?

The new string theory led to the theory of branes that offer an explanation of where the big bang came from. String theor has a little side theory that says there are a bunch, infinite actually, of universes existing next to ours, and the big bang occured when our universe and another collided.

well of course there is einstein but i think the best readable material is by stephen hawkins who corrected einstein's theorys.
he wrote "A Brief history in/ of Time" ( can't remember which)and you can find that anywhere- happy reading
