it sounds like this: "baud"
not 'bah hud'
but just "baud" .. or bood (with the two o's sounding like "boat")

the context was, in a convenient store, a guy goes to the check out counter and the Indian lady says to the other Indian guy behind the counter, "baud", as the man approches.
the guy almost certain (which seemed veryvery obvious) she was refering to him, ask what languge that was. he had to ask about 3 or 4 times before she replied HIndi, (she seemed nervous)

Bahuth - means lots/ plenty

Bhooth - means ghost

Can you explain the context or the situation - maybe that would help to figure out better............

Sounds like: 'a lot' or 'many' in Hindi/ Urdu.
