if your going by how good the player is on offense and defense then it has to be oden. oden averages nearly 16 points a game, averages 10 rebounds a game and 4 blocks a game. may i also remind you that he has a cast on his shooting hand

Right now Oden is a better defender and Durant is better on offense.
Overall, Durant is the better player right now. However, it takes big men a little longer to come into their own, and Oden's right hand has been hurt. He has played many games relying mostly on his left. It's difficult to tell which player will be better in the future, big man bias or not. Remember, Oden was invited to join the U.S. Olympic team for a reason...
As for really comparing the two - it's difficult. Durant, when he hits the NBA will be a small forward, Oden, a center.
But yes, to answer the question, right now, at this very moment, Kevin Durant is the better player.

Kevin Durant is the best pure talent in the draft...and the college game. But I think Greg Oden will be the first pick because in the NBA teams just do not pass up great "big men." As much impact as Durant will have in the league, Oden is a player you can build a championship team around. I think Durant will end up like Garnett (perennial all-star with no support), and Oden will end up like Duncan (4 championship rings).

Right now Durant.
But, watch carefully. Oden is considered one of the 3 most powerful high school players who ever lived. AND, one of the best 11 foot and in high school shooters of all time.
Oden is one of college basketballs most dangerous players, who did not start the season, and when he could play used his off hand - AND GOT VERY GOOD AT IT as a freshman!!!
There is a reason why the commentators are saying that next year, as a rookie, Oden would start in the NBA, and on the right team could be the fourth or fifth best big man in the NBA in his first season.
Do you realise that in high school this 7 footer shot 84% from the free throw line? He shoots like Jabar, powers like Russell, and has a soft touch like Duncan. And now, he shoots almost equally with either hand. WOW!!!

Durant is better but Oden is 7 feet tall. The only reason he will be picked first

Durant definitely is more consistent on offense and he has more of a commitment to defense so I pick him also.
