Some can tolerate pain better than others. Whoever does say that having a c-section does not hurt is a liar cause it hurts like h*ll. I was in pain for 3 weeks. I bled for 6 weeks. I walked around a little bit the day after i had a c-section but i rested for a week straight because i was in pain and so tired.
Having a c-section completely drained me, my blood was low.
Yes you can be walking around in 2 days but i am sure that woman wasn't driving or doing things when your not pregnant.

I have had 2 c-sections and very different experiences with both. The first was after 26 hours of mostly unmedicated, induced labor. It was performed by an on-call OB who did a horrid job. I was in pain and hardly able to sit up straight for weeks. My second c-section was planned with my personal OB and the time and effort she put in my surgery showed - I was up and mobile within hours of surgery and once I got home was on my feet and able resume most of my normal routines with a little pain management. I think the fact that my body was worn out and tired before c-section #1 didn't help the situation but the real difference was the talent and care of the surgeon.

It depends on the pain killers you take. In the hospital they make you get up the day after the surgery. You need to. If they are staying in bed for 2-4 weeks there is something wrong. Perhaps they are doing too much and stressing out their bodies. Could be that they had an infection too. I had 2 c-sections. It took about 2 weeks before I was over the major pain with my first child. With the second I was in pain for almost 3 weeks. I wasn't stuck in bed though. It was hard to get into bed and out of bed.
I took ibuprofen in the beginning to ease up the pain to allow me to move better. I stayed away from the heavy pain killers because they caused breathing problems (felt like someone sitting on my chest) and I also didn't want to become addicted to them. (but for some people they work)
You are also supposed to avoid steps and carrying more than the baby. I didn't listen to that because I had no choice but to go up and down steps and carry the baby around.
Your body needs time to heal. It is major surgery -cutting through your stomach muscles. You need those muscles to help you stand and sit. It puts a lot of stress on your back muscles.
Again-It is all in the pain killers you choose to take and in how fast your body heals after the surgery. When you have a new baby, sometimes you don't have a choice but to push through the pain and take care of the kids.

All people react to situations differently. Some people can handle more pain than others. Also, I think it has something to do as well with your stomach muscles. If you have stronger stomach muscles, they may be able to recover faster. Its all how your body heals itself. I say give it time. Any birth takes a tole on your body, vaginal or c section. Let your body get itself back in shape physically before you start doing too much or you could hurt yourself.

That could be the case. It could also have to do with the talent of the surgeon, and how many previous (if any) operations they've had. I was in the hospital for 4 days after my C-section when I had my daughter, and by the time I went home I was on my feet and not even using any painkillers.

i think it has to do with the reasons for the c-section. scheduled c- sections heal faster than emergency ones not sure why either. it took me two weeks to get up and moving normally and even then it was for only short times. i had a complicated c- sectiom
