The experiment is phenol red, baking soda, and calcium chloride in ziploc bag. There are steps:

1. place 1 spoon of baking soda in corner ziploc.
2. 2 spoons of calcium chloride in other corner of ziploc.
3. pour half of phenol red (25ml in total) on baking soda.
4. pour other half on calcium chloride.
5. mix all contents of ziploc together.

So, could someone please tell me for each of these 5 steps if its a chemical reaction or physical transformation? Oh, and what would be my hypothesis? Lots of points for this!!!!!!!

This is WAY more fun. Put a tablespoon of granulated sugar into a small beaker/cup. (With eye protection and gloves) drop some concentrated sulfuric acid on the sugar. Wait a few seconds. The sugar will start to steam and then grow into a black, snake shaped rod of foam. It is so cool. I swear to God this works.
Another one: take good sized chunk of magnesium and set it on fire. It is really bright. Make sure you wear sunglasses.
