No, Jules (Julia Roberts) convinces George (the gay guy played by Rupert Everett) to pretend that they are engaged to make Jules's best friend Micheal (Dermot Mulroney) jealous. George gives Jules his engagement ring and pretends that he is in love with her. They make it so realistic that George even tells the story of how they met which leads to the Say A Little Prayer singing scene.
