Our friends in Congress continue to display the rich diversity of patriotism. Their actions demonstrate to all Americans that you, in fact, can support the troops while opposing the war, as long as you’re not too specific about whose troops you support.

We should support our troops and fund the "war on terror", not the police action in Iraq.

Every man and woman in the US military volunteered. Military means armed forces. Each knew that when they volunteered. They're at minimum high school grads.

The US Constitution provides for an armed military, and the US President is Commander in Chief of the military. Congress approved the War on Terror. Former President Clinton himself signed the Iraq Liberation Act in 1998.

Many of our VOLUNTEER military men and women are either in place in a war environment or in support at other military bases. This is what they signed up for, trained for, get their paychecks for.

Why would any American question whether they be funded, let alone supported, particularly during wartime? What's wrong with this picture?

I don't see how you can support the troops and oppose the war (for a successful outcome). It's like my child wanting to go to the Olympics and I say, "Well, I support you...but I really think the Olympics are stupid." That is demoralizing and not really supportive after all. We won a lot more conflicts when we were united and worked as one to win. My father was a career soldier and I just find it silly that people say "I support the troops" but pull the rug from under them by devaluing their mission. Yeah, very supportive.

The troops fight wars because our government makes them; plain and simple; of course you must support the troops...why? because people who don't will be the first ones crying for troops if our freedom in America really was in jeopardy!!!! We need our troops for many reasons...it's not their fault they are in Iraq.....and those troops would die for the most selfish, hateful, American, - - it's like that saying, 'where are the cops when you need them?' - but then you still hate em'......troops do what troops do, whether it's the wise decision or not....look how fast we'd support them if the risk of battle on American soil arose.....

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my lord! anyone that does not want to do that needs to move out of the U.S.A.! go eat dirt for a year in Iraq and actually survive the bombs, bullets, mortars, and fanatics then see if this is a question that should even be asked. I have been there and I am darn proud of every single TROOP!

Continue to fund them? where else would the money go? if you believe that it would change any citizens status or go to reform failed programs like the health care system you are very naive.

Hell confident we ought to consistently help are troops, and each and all and sundry of'em.They placed their lives on the line for each guy or woman human beings, and that i dont provide a **** what those dumbmother f*ckers in Washington say, maximum of them havent even served, yet they think approximately themselves experts on all military subject concerns. And yet another element, how many congressmen family individuals are interior the army?some thing like 3 or 4 individuals out of 535.they gripe and moan how they understand what extremely some human beings interior the u . s . a . of america sense while their family individuals are KIA or WIA and that they're going to do each thing they are in a position to to assist them, yet its a team of crap, all they care approximately helps their huge buisnnesses and not being concerned on the subject of the blue collar american worker like their meant to and promised to.

Nope. By sending funds to them is to tell them to stay on in unwinable Iraq and be prepared to return in coffins. If they have spouses and children, don't they wish to be home and be with them, just like those in the White House and the Senators who are with their families without the fear that they'd be returning home in caskets? After all, peace can only be in Iraq, if Shiites exterminate Sunnis all together as their revenge against the Saddam Regime. But this doesn't mean that radical Shiites won't be after us in the future, or that Sunnis who have already fled Iraq won't come after us in future to avenge their dead. The faster we drew our troops away, the lesser enemies we create for the future.

Remember how those survivors of Holocaust hunted down those Nazis they remembered? What if some crazy Iraqi exiles starting hunting our soldiers down because they remewmbered the soldiers' faces? This may be a scary thought, but it could happen. Vendetta never ends even when wars are over. And Iraq is now so chaotic that one never knows who's killing who these days. And survivors never can expell the memories of faces of those they see killing their family members. If we support our Troops we want them safe... here back in the US, not in the crazy killing fields - even with better gear and arms - where they now don't know who nreally are friends or foes. When al-Sadr could escape so easily, there has to be helping hands within the Iraqi Govt, The Shiites still have the anti-American al-Sadr in their plans for their future tasks! We have allowed the al-Sadr Shiites to strenghten and accumulate too many weapons for too long. It's time for the other Sunni Arab nations to do into Iraq to unarm them.

By the way, here_nor_..., don't assume that you are the only one here with someone serving as a career soldier. You can be assured that there are many here who have relatives and friends right now in Iraq... and facing sleepless nights praying they'd be sent home soon! Have you any clue that a lot of our soldiers are already exhausted out? All the cool protective uniforms and weapons ain't going to take away their exhaustion. Do you realize that for some of them, even a slight sound in the shadows can be pretty startling for them? Your father may be a career soldier, but I guess he didn't tell you that!

And perhaps, it's time the media send their newscasters to those War Veteran Medical facilities where thousands of soldiers are being heavily sedated through day and nights, some even strapped to their beds for fear that they would endanger themselves. Perhaps, the senators should visit these soldiers before they cast their votes! Wounded soldiers aren't made up of just a few 100s of selected poster boys for the TV cameras.

how do you people keep coming up with the strawman arguments?
is there a website that emails them to you daily??

supporting the troops that are there, and continuing to fund bad policies are two different things.

We should support our troops AND discontinue funding to Bush's war effort.
Since he wants a war so badly, he and his family should pay for it!
