Simply because there are people who are just like that in as much as there are also a lot of other types of people on YA such as the kind, funny and witty ones.
Sometimes too, there are questions that maybe rub people the wrong way which makes them want to bite back.

I've found that people who are mean on this forum get courage from the fact that no one knows who they are - and they can say anything they want and not take responsibility for it. It's easier to be a jerk when you aren't looking the person in the eye. You keep posting your questions and ignore those people. All of us aren't like that.

It's easy to be mean and ugly to people you don't see. Some people are just that way, and for some, this is the only outlet for them to let off their frustration. It's not right, but that is the way some people are.
