I get angry when people state that childless people shouldn't act like it's their right to have kids. I do understand what they mean but it's easily rolled off the tongue if you're sat looking at your own children. Believe me if you are sat in a nice home with a lovely partner and you both have good jobs and know you would make the best job you could of looking after a child and you can't have any it does make you wonder why it isn't your 'right' but it is the right of a lazy work-shy individual with 3 or 4 kids all with diferent mothers/fathers.

Whilst I'm in rant mode (LOL) I'll just add that it also makes me angry that people say that it's just time your genes left the gene pool. Again, very easy to say if you have children of your own. Why should I accept that it's time for my hard working genes passed down from hard working decent people to die when the scary 'chavs' out there are procreating like rabbits? Are their genes more valuable to the human race than mine then?

I'd like to add that generally I'm quite a happy childless person and do count my blessings in life but everybody in my boat has times when these things grate on you a bit.

Cortney N: I have no problem with people with children. But, some parents do show a great lack of understanding (unintentionally) when they flippantly say these things. If you are a good parent, as many of my family and friends are, then I wish you nothing but good times and happy thoughts.

Is it every ones right to have children? Yes, it is, however, everyone should NOT have children. I am referring to those who are biologically able, but do not " deserve the right " to have children. The amount of child abuse and neglect that happens everyday is staggering. Is it FAIR that certain, uncaring, neglectful, abusive people are able to have children?,absolutely NOT! I wish I had the answer as to WHY? good, decent, moral, loving people, can not conceive. There are so many children in foster care, for reasons that are inconceivable. There are so many older children that need to be adopted, by loving people. It is a shame that people who want children for ALL the RIGHT reasons can not biologically have them. While so many of the WRONG type of people can, and abuse that privilege. Those people who can have children, should not judge those of us who can not. Children are to be loved and nurtured. It would be a far better world, if more parents cared for their children in the manner in which God intended. There are children already in this world, that would love to be part of a loving family.

If it makes you feel any better, I believe there should be birth control in the public water supply, and that people should have to pass a test and get a license to have children. It might even improve the gene pool, as the illiterate would fail the test.

I'm sorry you are unhappily childless. Is adoption a possibility for you?

It definetly is a priveledge and a blessing to have a child. After re-reading your question, I understand that you are unable to have children at this time. I can't believe people would put so much pressure on you to have children!

I do not understand why so much anger toward people who choose to have alot of children though (not from you, but the respondants) I have 4 children and may have more one day. They are all by the same father, my husband......and I may add we are on absolutely ZERO help, have never had help. People love to assume large families are on asistance, which they are all not.

Best of luck to you and your partner.

i think having children isnt a right, only a priviledge. its a great shame some people cant have them and i do hope i am able to when it comes to it....but on the other hand, why people spend thousands on IVF and stuff when there are millions of children who need adopting does seem a little bit silly sometimes. i can totally see how successful, well adjusted couples get disheartened seeing not so ideal people having handfuls of children....i would too! xxxx

i do agree with what your saying, im a stay at home mother whilst my partner father to my 2 year old daugther goes to work 12 hours a night 5 nights a week i dont agree with baby machines that we end up paying for but the only people how i think that dont deserve to have children are child abusers. but people on benifits arnt always bad parents its just the minorty of them are you see its not where you live but how you live my mother is a baby machine on the doss so really i should have turned out like her but i havent because i looked at her thought no way. if you can not have children its not your fault but there are options out there.

I just think it's a shame you don't even need a licence to have a dog anymore. Just think of some of the people who have children just to get a council house/keep their marriage together/think it's a good idea at the time/have an abusive partner who then turns on the child.
