It is hard because it is a male dominant name, if her real name is Charlene, and you call her Charly then I would say ok, but how would you like being called BOB all your life, over the intercom, at the airport etc. Remember she will have to live with the name and what it brings with it.

I think it's cute. And Charly/Charley/Charlie/Charlee could come from Charlene or Charlotte. Does he like the name Charlotte???

I like the spelling Charlee best. It's a little more feminine.

In general, I am do not like the idea of using a boy name for a girl (Ryan, Taylor, Charley, Jackie etc). Old fashioned names should be brought back in use. Just my opinion so I guess I agree with your husband.

I really like the name! I think it is great 2 give a girl a typical "Boy" name. Women are doing things that werent imaginable years ago. I do agree with the other user I like it spelled Charleigh better. The leigh makes it a lil more gender friendly.

I like the name Charlotte better. Remember you're naming a little baby a cutsie name but by the time she's 40 years old, she might want something a bit more adult sounding.

Just wonder how all the babies named Brandi in the 1970s, love their names now?

Your baby - your choice! Blessings to you all!

I like it spelled Charleigh or Charli better...I think that it looks more like a girls name, it dosnt look so much like Charley, which is a guys name. I do like the name but like someone suggested above me i think Chalene or Charlea also. It's up to you, if you like it go with it!
