Although I'm a Reds fan, I don't like our chances this year so, I would like to see the Cubs in the World Series. I loving going up to Wrigley for games. It's the best weekend of the summer. If they can stay injury free, I believe they have a great shot to make it. By the way, enjoy sweet Lou, he is very entertaining and he did take my Reds to the promised land in '90!! Good luck. By the way, did you know he initially took 41 in Cincy because his traditional managerial 14 belonged to Pete Rose. Now he's 41 again due to Banks. Let's play two!!

What you (and others) fail to understand is that the "300 million" The Cubs have spent is NOT ALL SPENT THIS YEAR.
It is spread out over the life of each of the contracts they signed.
In other words (plain English, if you will)...The Cubs payroll for 2007 is NOT 300 million dollars.
The Cubbies took a chance on several key players, and like any other team, are hoping it pays off.
THe Cubbies do have a good chance of making the playoffs this year (at least on paper they do)---but that is the beauty of baseball----you actually have to play 162 games each season to find out.
I would love nothing better than to see The Cubs go to the World Series...Lord only knows their fans deserve it.

The Cubs should do very well. On paper they should be in the top 5 teams to go all the way. Then again we are talking about the Cubs. As a die heart Mets fan I for one would love to see the Cubs do well. I liked it when the RedSox won and I think the Cubs would be better. Just get past the Billy Goat curse. Good luck to your Cubs and stay off the D.L.

The cubs have a good chance of making it to the world series. They will deff. win the central devision. They will prolly lose in the playoffs beacause they are the cubs but with the talent the have it is very concievable that they make it to the world series. They were picked by many to get there last year and they have gotton better than last year.

very slim. their bullpen has recieved no improvement what-so-ever. soriano was a good edition to the team and might improve the team's offense but if the cubs cannot produce any worth-while pitchers then they are not going to be able to keep the other team off the score board. as long as the cubs don't trade away their power house hitters then they should be ok and a playoffs season might be in store for them. but i doubt very much that this will be a world series season.

You are an idiot. The cubs did not spend 300 million. They will stink as usual.

Does anyone mind a mention of the Rays? Who thought that sweep of the Cubs would lead to this.

I don't like their chances. Ted Lilly and Jason Marquis aren't the answers to their troubles.
1. D. Lee needs to be healthy.
2. Mark Prior needs to be healthy.
3. Kerry Wood needs to be healthy.
4. Aramis Ramirez needs to play like he is playing for a contract again.
5. Someone needs to become a closer.
6. Somebody other than Lee and Izturis needs to play good defense.
7. Zambrano can't let his emotions get out of hand in a big game.
8. The curse of the billy goat would have to disappear.
