Dumb *** question. Most of the South was against slavery the first time it took away jobs, held down pay, forced a caste system upon the population. They fought like me if Virginia broke away because of abortion, taxes, the price of tea I would not care I would stand with her. God Bless The South and her People.

Even though my ancestors did own rice plantations in the South Carolina low country, I don't agree with slavery. However, I would still have to support the Confederacy as the Civil War wasn't about slavery anyway. Most of the people who say they would support the Union are probably people whose family weren't even here during the civil war and were probably peasants in some poor backward eastern european country.

While your question may seem interesting, it doesn’t reflect reality because there is zero chance of such occurring. However, if it was asked as, “what side would you be on in the years leading to the civil war, it could take on some real significance. The reason for this is that the question you ask now was addressed from several perspectives during those years.
In that context, I would join the direction and efforts of Lysander Spooner. In short, he wrote against slavery and supported individual freedom, but at the same time supported the States’ rights to secede. In this he backed up each position with solid and well thought out positions from both legal and ethical considerations. These positions are well worth reading today.
If his positions had been followed there would have been no reason for President Lincoln's war.

The War was not about slavery. Most Northerners didnt care one way or the other about slavery, nor did Southerners. And most Southerners didnt even own slaves.
The war was about Independence and states rights from a central government of the united states. But even the southern states themselves didnt want much to do with each other. Virginians looked down on Carolinians and Alabamians cringed at Georgians, etc.

A war today would be a mismatch even worse than in the 19th Century. By the way it is "would" not "wud". I would be on the same side as it was. My family tree has people who fought on both sides. But Yankee I am though I live in the South. There is no other honest decision a true American can have.

Not only would I join the Union side in a heartbeat, my opinion about the southern states would plummet to the point where I would suggest that they have all their states rights taken away after the war was finished. People like that cannot be allowed to make decisions.

The south would be obliterated, just like during the first Civil War. The rednecks would be sent packing!

I would move because the US is already pretty much retarded, and something like that happening would solidify the fact that the US should be dissolved and replaced with an old Australia style prison continent.
