im planning on getting a street bike this summer, and i have some young people(my son, and sister perhaps) that i would probably want to take for a ride with me, I read the moto manual from dmv and it didnt regard that issue, if anyone knows or wouldnt mind finding that info for me that would be great. I dont know if there is an age requirement, or maybe weight or height or something, anything will help, thanks. Oh and im in california.

I hate to be the 1 turd in the punchbowl, but I'll do it anyway. You might consider actually calling the DMV and getting an answer. I know I know, calling the DMV in any state is about as much fun as a root canal or a colonoscopy but what has to be done, has to be done. Your second option is to research the state statutes yourself or read the CA motorcycle operators manual that they must publish in at least 3 languages, maybe even English.
Here in CT, the last time I checked the only requirements are the that passenger must be able to reach the pegs or floorboards. If the passenger is under 18 or 21 (forgot exactly) they MUST wear a helmet even though CT is still a helmet choice state. Makes perfect sense to me. But there was some do-gooder busybody motorcycle hating legislator proposing some rules changes and putting an age number on it last year but I don't think it got out of committee.
CT also does not allow a rider to carry a passenger for the first 90 days after getting a motorcycle endorsement or during the learner permit phase of operation. Strangely sensible for a state that is just as Blue and whacked out as CA.

Requirements vary from state to state, some have minimum age requirements, some don't. It is my understanding that there is no minimum age (legally) for a m/c passenger in CA. However, I recommend that they be able to reach the passenger pegs and be comfortable on the bike. Also, I strongly recommend that, if you are not very experienced on a street motorcycle, that you wait to take passengers until you have several thousand miles and at least six months to a year experience on the bike "solo." After that, build up some experience riding "2-up" in a large, empty parking lot, then moving to lightly travelled streets, etc., as riding 2-up is a lot different than solo.

As far as I know there isn't an age limit for passengers. You should just be sure to be safe. Helmets, watch your speed, etc. It's like a car - no age minimum there either.
I've seen plenty of people with very small kids on their motorcycles - about 4 yrs and up probably. Not the safest thing but it is legal.

what airbob said. passengers have to be able to put the feet on the pegs. ca is a lid state, so that's a no-brainer. in ohio, there is no min. age req, but those under 18 has to have a helmet. in any case, to legally ride a passenger, the rider has to have an endorsement....permit's dont qualify.

There is no age requirement. The passenger just has to be tall enough to be able to rest their feet on the passenger foot pegs. And what ever your state's helmet law is - obey it. One other thing, rider and passenger has to wear eye protection. Visor, goggles, shatter proof glasses.

All states are different. I do not think NC has an age requirement.
