Well you need to tell your mom that what she's saying is true of some sites (like eBay), but there are other sites that have different policies. If you buy something from Walmart.com, you can return it to a physical store (don't have to ship it back) if you don't like it. Lots of stores offer free shipping if you spend a certain amount, and others have fixed shipping (like Old Navy is always just $5). Education can help people feel a lot more comfortable about shopping on the internet.

well, first off, show her the website you want to order from. Find their return policy and show that to her as well. Prove to her you really can return things. Also, find the size charts of the website. Have your mother help you measure to find the size that will fit you the best. If it's a store you've shopped in at the mall, go with the size you would buy there. As for shipping and handling, some sites give you free shipping and handling for certain purchases over a certain price, try to use the site when they have those specials. If you can find a friend who has bought things online and gone through what your mom is worried about, she may think twice about her fears of shopping online.

well do some research, most online stores require credit or debit cards. this poses a threat to identity, which is likely the underlying fear of you moms. And shop at online stores that you can physical visit, such as Macy's. jcpenny, walmart, and so on, so that identity is at less of a risk. to avoid having to return items and get charged for it , check out the store return policies before you purchase anything. if you order online, and your item is damaged or doesn't fit, return it for another item size or whatever.
The other thing about online shopping is the cost of returning the items if it isn't covered by the store.
if you shop eBay, you can get really good deals, and shipping and handling and returns are usually low cost.
it all in what your mom is comfortable with.
Ask her to TRY IT a few times, and she if she stills feels the same about it.

Maybe she doesn't want you to order clothes online because you have to spend a certain amount or you have to pay for shipping. You can go to the mall first thing on the weekend when the mall first opens, or wait till you have a day off of school, then it wont be crowded. Ask her why she doesn't want you to order online. It could be she doesn't want to put her credit card # on the internet, it could be different reasons. Some places online you can return right in the store like american eagle and some you would've have to ship back. There could be other reasons she's just not telling you.

Your mom has some legit concerns.....
I ordered stuff for my kids and I'm still fighting it. I've also ordered other things and had not 1 bit of problems. I will not actually order "online"....I do it by phone. With my kids (who are older)....they go to the store they want things from and get a basic idea of how things fit etc. I'll order it for them then....knowing they can take it to a store for exchange if needed and I'll order it. Most size exchanges are free....meaning they send return labels to cover those costs. It seems to be more an issue when you want your money back. It is time consuming and burdensome if you aren't POSITIVE of what you want. The mail isn't a dressing room and it does put undue pressure on your mom if you aren't sure. My daughter had me run ragged with on-line shopping over a dress. I WON"T do it anymore for her. She either goes to the store and tries things on and has done her "shopping" or I won't get it.

Well..I know that old Navy is $5 shipping no matter how much you buy. Once you know what fits there, ordering online is the way to go.
