i have a 2000 c230k the bas-esp light is on what could the problem be? any suggestions before i take it to the dealer?

Reference you owners manual. Then take it to the dealership. It could be many things from something small to something expensive. Bad wheel sensor, abs sensor, brake sensor, tranmission speed sensor. and as mentioned above brake pedal sensor. Everything dealing with vehicle speed and braking, and traction control. Most often it is a bad wheel sensor.

Replace the brake light switch under the brake pedal. This is by far the most common problem. We replace these often. So for like $20 you can find out...or you can go to the dealer and spend hundreds of dollars. If you're not mechanically inclined, it can be somewhat involved.

Yes go to dealer braking and esp are very important features.

usually it's the stop light switch, not very expensive so you might try and replace it. hint: when you replace the switch, push down on the brake pedal as you replace the switch, than release the pedal and the switch will than self adjust i replaced a switch today for the same problem

Sorry all the new ones,you will have to go to the dealer.They learned that from Chrysler.
