The Flumps were little fluffy characters, I know there was Granpa Flump, a Mom and Dad and 3 children I think the baby one was Pootle.

I remember Worzel Gummage! (I can't remember how to spell it though!)
My favourites were like you the Flumps but also Button Moon, Camberwick Green, Trumpton, Chigley, Bagpuss and Lets Pretend.
And I am still a big fan of the muppets.
I was really scared of Catweazle!
