That statement is meaningless.

Yep, the question's meaningless.

However you can note that absolute zero is -276 degrees C. That's the temperature when everything stops and lies on the floor in a lifeless heap. Even electrons no longer buzz around.

So "half as cold again tomorrow" could be badly construed as "halfway towards absolute zero", i.e. -138 degrees C.

But I'm sure he wouldn't really mean it.

The answer should be 0. However, as the weather man ususally reports on things like ice forming, and given that freezing point is 4 C then 0 C is 4degrees of frost ,so half as cold again could be 6 degrees of frost or -2C!

'Half as cold again' must mean colder. 'Half as warm again' must mean warmer. We therefore need a scale of temperature (let's call it the Weatherman scale) where 0 deg W is what the weatherman considers to be neither warm nor cold. Let us suppose this to be h deg C.

Then 0 deg C = -h deg W
'Half as cold again' = -3h/2 deg W = -h/2 deg C

Contact the Weatheman, find out what Centigrade value he considers to be neither warm nor cold, and then work out -h/2 deg C.

0 degrees C is the sames has 32 degrees F. So half of 32 is 16 degrees F. Converting this to degrees C is -8.9 degrees C.
