Adam - de·moc·ra·cy (d-mkr-s) KEY

NOUN: Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives.

Every sixth grader can tell you that we live in a Democratically elected Republic, or sinse you have a problem with that,, a Republic based on Democracy.

Thanks for coming out though, your enlightened opinion means so much to me.

Should we write a law saying that if they write garbage laws. All the time they spend voting on them they aren't paid?

Actually, the Republican's were willing to debate, but only if they were permitted to offer amendments to the proposed resolution.

The Dem's didn't want to let them do that because it would force them to take a stand on whether or not they plan on cutting funding for the troops on the ground. That would not be politically expedient, so, being the majority, they refused to permit any amendments.

So who is hindering democracy?

If you want to take the partisanship out of it, the Dem's are running the Senate just like the Republican's did when they were the majority. And, the Republican's are responding just like the Dem's did when they were in the minority.

I don't think that proves democracy is still alive... that's what elections prove...

but that's how they voted... it proves that the senate votes and the rules are in place... that's about it...

The reason for the stoppage is that the Dems REFUSE to add any kind of amendment to the resolution. Thats the dems for you, their way or no way.
