First of all let me say I am a man and I do have feelings, but by watching T.V. you would get the impression that all I do as a man is run around with a gun, fight, and have sex, I don't do any of these things and I know that it makes me no less of a man, actually it makes me more of a man. I also enjoy talking about my feelings and guess what I'm not gay, I'm very straight. I can see nothing wrong with being gay or lesbian though. There is also noting wrong with not being a woman that don't look like a holly wood model, If a man don't get to know you for you then he is shallow anyways. Someday I want to marry a sweet and smart woman who takes care of herself and has an open mind, looks come behind all of these qualities as far as I'm concerned. So after reading this mess of ramblings I just through out at you, do you think that I have feelings, do you think I'm misdirected in any way, and if you were me what would you do? So what do you think of the men don't have feelings myth?

I love you. Marry me. Haha.
I think it is exactly that...a myth. I know plenty of guys that put up a front around certain guys friends, but show it around other guy friends, or girl friends. My boyfriend shows his emotion, doesn't care much about sex, is not one for fighting, unless he is joking, and doesn't like guns, sports or beer. Does this make him less of a man? No, he is in touch with all of himself, not just the side society wants him to be in touch with.
I think you have great feelings. You look deeper into people, than the outside which can often turn girls away. I love that. Misdirected? Hell no!! You are going in the right direction because you will be able to understand a girl, not just mock her. You will be able to listen to her rants, not ignore her.
If I were you, I wouldn't change a thing!!

I think a lot of the myth about men not having feelings is perpetuated by blokes as well as the media. Men have a need to feel in controll , they are problem solvers so whereas women might worry about something a man tends to be more practical and trys and do some thing about it.
Which is why some men have difficulty with women's emotions as they always try and `fix ` the problem when sometimes we just want to have a good cry and a cuddle.
It really is a `men are from mars and women are from Venus ` problem.
Women like strong supportive men and men misinterpret this as meaning not showing feelings.
My partner comes across as very abrupt and closed of to his feelings. He isn't but he would never show that side of him to others as it would make him feel week.

Yeah Hollywood movies tv and stuff make it look like guys dont think about anything and care about nothing but sex. But i care about stuff besides sex and have feelings. It dosnt make a man gay it just means hes not a sterotypical jerk like tv and movies make men look like. And on tv or movies the ones that do have feelings are made out to be either gay or nerds.. Very stupid.

TV and the film industry has been feminised. Many of the producers are probably gay so that they don't have a problem portraying women as figures of power. Consequently, particularly in the soaps, men are portrayed as shallow, feckless individuals relying on their more responsible and stronger female characters. Not at all true to real life.

I entirely disagree. Men do have feelings, but they tend to allow more things to roll off their backs. They are less emotional, more rational, and by virtue of this, tend to have their feelings more controlled. I believe that most men are perfectly emotional beings, but many don't express their feelings or share them only with a select few. They need more trust before opening up. Can you blame them?!

It's been a long time since people actually believed men don't have feelings. Of courses, you as a sensitive, non-gun-toting, non-promiscuous regular guy, would hardly be entertaining TV fodder, would you?
(When I wrote this answer I was pretending I was a woman.)

Anyone who buys into the 'men have no feelings' myth is feeble minded in the same way that a person who sees gender role as absolute rather than conceptual is feeble minded. Just ignore the idiots...

It's not a myth at all, majority of men are just like you said.
Yes, you are misdirected...But then...you are a man.
Maybe YOU are quite a nice guy though....Hope you meet that sweet woman of your dreams.

Men have tons of feelings. It's what they do with them that matters. Society taught boys to be tough & not cry, complain or express anything other that agressiveness.
Feelings make us vumerable & most men don't want to be.
Just be who you are and keep looking for the sweet lady who will appreciate you.
