What does it smell like?
If it smells of anti-freeze it could be residual that was left in the heater box, or the new core could possibly be leaking.
If it smells electrical, well, stop driving till you find it!

You have a wiring issue that needs to be addressed and addressed promptly. I saw a brand new Cherokee that burnt up because of wiring problems. (and I mean, burnt UP)
