between the 20-22 weeks are most accurate. I had the little prediction test done also, each one I tried it said a girl. Well needless to say I am most certainly having a little boy. Believe the ultrasound it is scientifically proven unlike little prediction test.

The ultrasound can usually determine the sex of the fetus by approximately 18 weeks but it really depends on whether the baby is lying in an optimal position during the scan and the umbilical cord is not obstructing the view. I would say about 90% of the time, the technologist is correct. It's only a 50/50 chance the fortune prediction is correct.

How good of a picture did you get? Girls can be tricky to tell unless you have a GOOD picture of between the legs. In my case Abby spread 'em so there was no doubt she was a she. But chances are if the tech says girl it's a girl. The predictor is more for fun than anything
Truthfully the only sure fire way to tell the sex is with an amnio. My husband's ex-girlfriend had 3 ultrasounds and each one said something different, and she was pregnant with a boy.

I would say trust the ultrasound, it's been right 3 of 4 times for me and the first was just really a guess becasue of the position of the baby.... They don't usaually say if they aren't pretty sure... 20wks. is really the best time to find this info out because the baby is still small enough to get a good view of everything.... I would go with the girl you can always have another ultrasound done...

The earlist scan to sex a baby is 18 weeks - years ago they were very unpredictable, but these days they have to warn you they could be wrong - I havent heard of any wrong sexing for a long time - they do tell you they could miss a little penis - it could be hidden behind the chord, but in the UK the staff are not allowed to tell you unless they are more than 85% sure
I wouldnt believe a fortune baby test as i visited a fortune teller years ago - though everything she told me was amazingly correct, she was wrong about the sex of the baby -
My advice - Trust the scan, but buy one or two white outfits incase :-)

Ultrasound is usually very effective but you need to keep in mind that the baby needs to be in the right position to see the sex. I went for my ultrasound at 19 weeks and my gynie said it´s definitely a boy. But then a week after I went to the normal doctor he also did an ultrasound and said he was not sure of the sex because the baby was lying in the wrong position. Usually they find out at your 20 week ultrasound. But don´t get your hopes up. I´m going for an ultrasound every appointment but I do pay extra for it... Hopefully I will know for sure with my next appointment.... Good luck

well you could ask the doc on what percent they thought it would be a girl. and 18 weeks is usually the earliest you can find out the baby's gender. I wouldn't really believe a fortune predicction test over a sonogram though. If she had her legs spread wide open you can guarentee it is a girl. Girls are more tricky than boys on those things. just because boys you can tell for sure lol. but if there wasn't a penis there, then you can pretty much assume its a girl

They aren't 100%. I was in a birthing class where another father was showing the ultra-sound pictures, so proudly, of his son.......his wife had a girl. There's shadows etc. The newer ones are so cool though. Much better than my early ones. So I'd say they are pretty darn accurate...but not 100%. So make sure you still have an alternate name.lol

Never believe fortune prediction thingies! what does you heart tell you? you are likely to get at least one more ultrasound before your due date. but ask your OBGYN if another one could be taken to make sure of its gender. to further answer you question ultrasounds these days are very very accurate, babies gender is identifiable by the 16th week of pregnancy i do believe, so if the technician Said its a girl, its a girl. and vise versa.
