I am planning to buy a new 2007 Yamaha motorcycle. How much negotiation in price can I expect? If the MSRP is $5,700.00, can I effectively have the price reduced (I live in North Carolina) by negotiaition or is that typically a fixed price without much downward movement?

depends on dealer. some might if there's alot of competition within a 25 or 30 mile radius, type of bike, how much goodies (like saddle bags) u plan on puttin on it before u'd even pick it up, and how serious u are about it. the above only applies to ricer's. hd's generally never go under msrp.

Depends on the dealer, market conditions and the particular bike. MSRP is the price the bike is supposed to sell for including assembly and documentation. Most dealers will negotiate if they think you are serious and willing to shop elsewhere. I bought my first new Yamaha for about $100 over MSRP and my second one for about $400 under, both out the door prices.

There isn't much wiggle room in negotiating buy a bike. It depends on the dealer and how much competition he has nearby. Now is a good time to buy because for some this is considered the "off season" for riding. At best try to negotiate the price of some goodies onto your new bike. Windshield, saddlebags, crash bars, etc.

I just bought a 600 Fazer for 4,000. Now the list price is 5500. I went to a large dealer who specialises in low prices and large volumes. Have a look on the net and see what bargains are to be found. I also got 0% finance for 3 years

Maybe buy a car instead. Motorcycles are very dangerous. I have had several friends maimed in accidents while driving them.
