i am a student of grade 10 and new to canada i want to buy a computer and i need some help
can you tell me how much RAM do i need and hard disk space

i want to buy something within 700 dollar
and also recommend some good companies in canada

It depends on what you'll be using it for.

but here's what i recommend:

at least 1GB of RAM
at least 80GB Hard Drive
at least a Intel Core Duo processor, or equivalent (from AMD, etc)
at least 3 USB ports (if you're looking at a desktop, they usually have atleast 4, sometimes up to 9)

Dells are problems...my bf has dells and the hard drive crashes often. I'd get an HP with at least 1 gb ram and 80 gb hard drive.

your best bet ( being new to canada ) is to buy a DELL
they are a canadian owned company and their online/phone support is good... also they have a good warranty policy
and for the most part their PC's are good

Have a look at the Dell systems - all good have two

don't buy a mac.... I'd say get a Gateway with pentium Duel core processers

you can get a good system at furtureshop.ca go to there local store in your area
