How do I get the scarecrow in the Virtual Villager 2 game?

I think you need a master farmer. Once you have one, there is some flexible looking wood just above (north) of the research table. Drag your master farmer there and he will begin to make the scarecrow (he'll put up the frame). Do it again and he'll finish the scarecrow.
