My gut says Nash because Marion and Stoudamire are arguably elite players and I don't know if Dallas has consistent elite players other than Dirk. Josh Howard is great but he is not able to take over a game night in and night out.

Steve Nash--> Amare Stoudamire (averaged 28 pts per game in 2003) Marion (double double for the last couple years)
Dirk--> Jason Terry (inconsistent shooting), Josh Howard (1st time all star - lack experience) and no one else
Steve Nash wins because he has a player who's equivalent, if not, better than Dirk, and that's Amare Stoudamire

yeah, i'd have to go with the suns. amare and marion are just deadly. dallas doesn't really have a center like amare...dampier just isn't the same. jhoward can be great, but marion is better. however, dallas can win games without dirk more easily than the suns can win without nash, i think because nash, being the point guard has such a crucial role on that team. dirk scores, but isn't the play maker that nash is.

Nash because he has 2 proven players in Stoudemire and Marion while Dirk has Josh Howard that has proven himself. If Dirk wer 2 go down wit an injury than the mavs would lose

Dallas doesn't really have a good supporting cast around him. Everybody has to be playing on the team for the team to win game. They all work together and with one person missing they could lose that's why I like the Dallas Mavericks because they have teamwork.

Nash. He has Stoudemire and a much deeper bench than Nowitzki in Dallas.

nash probably but dirk has teammates that will step up when they need to...
and nash's teammates are pretty bad without nash...
and without dirk, the others will help out (for example the game against the supersonics when dirk sprained his ankle... where dampier scored 15+ or so, which is very rare....)

nash...howard and terry are good, but nots as good as Marion, SToudemire, Raja Bell, Barbosa, and Boris Diaw...
