what can you be with one?

I'm probably bias, since i have a BA in polisci, but i thought it was a great major. Of course the school you go to and their program means a lot also. Many students, like myself, go on to graduate school after getting their BA. Some go to law school, some for their MBA, and some, like myself, seek a master's in International Relations or public policy. There are many different fields within polisci, so if you focus on International Relations, like me, then you can become an expert in a specific region of the world, like European, Middle Eastern, Latin American, or Asian politics. You can also go into a business area if you study international development and international political economy, all within polisci. Another area is political analysis. It is similar to statistics and you can work with many companies collecting data, doing polls and surveys, etc. Many political organizations will pay decent money for your research abilities if you are good at analyzing data. Also, you can teach, work with the CIA as an analyst, or work with the state dept or dept. of defense. I've seen students do all of those things.
One program I have found is that there are TONS of jobs for polisci majors, but the majority of the good ones are in DC and NYC. Go to washingtonpost.com and look at their job listings. They will have a ton of entry level jobs, especially with non-governmental agencies and lobby groups. Basically, whatever you can imagine doing in politics is possible. Good luck

If you like politics, then it is a good major. Obviously it prepares you for politics, not just running for office but working for a campaign, working for an elected or appointed official, being a consultant, etc. It is also a great major for applying to law school. And I think it would be good even for getting into business, because you don't need a business major to be in business.

political science is good if you want to be a polititian, or maber one of their lackeys. but if you do want to be a polititon you probably should go to law school too.

Its not a good major...theres not much you can do but be a teacher, work in government or be a lawyer.
