Equator is an imaginary line around the Earth forming the great circle that is equidistant from the north and south poles. The length of Earth's equator is about 40,075.0 km, or 24,901.5 miles.

ok, examine this out. The Coriolis result may be used to confirm the width of the equator. So whilst i grew to become into in Kenya crossing the equator I used this "result" to confirm the place the equator is. I extensively utilized the "result" to confirm the sting of the equator to the north and south and that i grew to become into able to approximate how huge the equator is. From my test (and that i does not count selection it because of the fact the main scientific) i might concluded the equator grew to become into no wider than a 8 lane intense way. If everybody has the different techniques i might rather want to ascertain it.

Most of the other replies are correct. The equator is only an imaginary line halfway between the north & south poles and running around the world.
If you're asking how long this line is around the world, that would be the circumference of the world - 3.14 times the diameter (about 8,000 miles) which equals about 25,000 miles.

The circumference of the earth at the equator is 24,901.55 miles (40,075.16 kilometers).

But, if you measure the earth through the poles the circumference is a bit shorter - 24,859.82 miles (40,008 km). This the earth is a tad wider than it is tall, giving it a slight bulge at the equator. This shape is known as an ellipsoid or more properly, geoid (earth-like).
