I myself, have oak cabinets and i have found that luke warm water, 2 teaspoons of murphys oil, and a little dab of soap work wonders. Take a white cloth and go over the cabinets from the top to the bottom, and after you have wiped them all day take another bucket of just luke warm water and wipe the cabinets off with just water. Then take a soft tail and gently dab so there wont be any residue. Hope this helps!

You might try furniture polish or olive oil, rubbed gently with a soft cloth to dissolve the old grease...oil cuts oil. Once it is loosened, wipe down with a solution of murphy oil soap and hot water. If they seem dried out after that, go back over with furniture polish or dusting spray.

Wood is very absorbant so if you dry them slightly in the cleaning process, just keep applying an oil based product to bring them back. It may take a while to "quench its thirst", so don't panic if it doesn't seem to be working, and do give it time to work.

Bleach is ok for wood occasionally but I wouldn't count on it as a degreaser, and I wouldn't use any other household degreasers on wood either.

Have you tried sugar soap. It's not expensive at all and can be bought from anywhere (supermarket/DIY store) I bought mine from B & Q, cost about a couple of pounds. Its very good for removing grease from old tiles and cupboards.

I tried a product called "Greased Lightning® Multipurpose". I mixed it with water and it worked for me. I found it at Home Depot.
Might work for you also.
