Get a lesson or two from really good players mate. Naural talent, your style & pressure are the only things that could affect your ability. You must stand and do exactly the same thing everytime.

A lot of getting better depends on how you practise. If you don't correct the errors in your game you will never see in progress.

First I would suggest making sure that your stance, throw and release are consistent. If you are not doing the same thing every time you will never be able to see real improvement. One way to evaluate your throw is to stand in front of a mirror, without your darts, and watch what happens when you throw. You could also do this with a video camera if you have one.

The next thing to evaluate is if you are mentally prepared to throw darts. If you are tired and distracted it will be hard to concentrate on maintaining proper form when you throw. I would also try to avoid drinking while you practise if you really want to remain focused during your practise sessions.

After that I would recommend goal setting and record keeping to measure how much improvement you are truly making, because sometimes it's difficult to see small improvements or identify when you have truly reached a period of no improvement.

Once you have done all of that I would identify specific areas that you want to improve such as:

Throwing darts in a tight group several times in a row.
Shooting at 3 darts at the numbers on the dartboard 1-20 plus bull and counting how many darts fall into the numbers you are trying to hit. There are several other practise routines that you could try that may prove to be helpful. I'll post some links below.

Also there is a great program called dartpro that is a good practise aid.

What I try to do is to play a game of darts and try to go out in 25 or less, which would give you a 20 Per dart average & when you do go out in 25 darts then lower your target everytime.

I also try to get myself to hit 180 or 2 every night before I go to bed.

Are you playing in a local league team? If not get yourself down to your local pub or club & see if they have a darts teams. Start there & then you will start to better yourself by playing players of a better standard.

Also try joining a Super League team that play around your County. You will then play against players that play in the County set up that competes around the England Scotland & wales on a monthly basis. You may by then get into the team.

Also go & to tournaments that are held around you area as that will also get you playing a better standard of darts.

Do you practice on your own? if you do try to find some one to practice with if possible someone better than yourself, nothing like playing matches to improve your game, keep going you will get better. I also invested in a Champions choice dartboard(it has smaller doubles and trebles) made scoring on a standard board easier . Dont let it bother you , if I could just turn my brain off when i throw and not over analyze my grip, release i would be twice the player that I am.

Drink less beer :) Invest in decent darts and flights. Relax and do fun stuff like try and score your lotto numbers etc.

do your darts feel comfortable? are they the correct weight for you? - try different weights, is the dart board set up correctly?
try different shaped flights and/or different length stems.

lots of variables to swap and change but practice will make (almost) perfect!

good luck!

Change your name to Phil Taylor, abduct the real Phil "The Power" Taylor chop his arms off chop off one of yours then get someone to chop the other. Have the real Phil Taylor's arms surgically sewn onto your stumps.

Hopefully this will improve your game + abduct any other dart player...... for their eyes

Have a drink of beer. It has been shown that when you use depressants like alcohol, your nervous jitters that make you miss subside. Don't overdo it though, being drunk screws your aim.
