I'm thinking a 2nd or 3rd round exit. They've been too inconsistant to make me think they can go the whole way.

I think they will get knocked out in the second round, which seems to be the consensus. However, they are so young and inexperienced that I could see them making the finals without realizing how hard it is to do. If they are able to make it out of the east, I think they match up favorably with the west. Buffalo and Nashville are really good teams, and the Pens have never had very good luck with Brodeur in NJ.

If the forwards can stay hot, and Fleury gets on a roll, I say look out. I think the Pens are the one team that I would want to avoid in the Playoffs if I had a choice. I say they are eliminated in game 6 of round 2. But if they make the finals and with the good Lord Stanley willing win, I wouldn't be shocked.

I would also point out that Mike Lange spells his name with an e on the end, but I am a lousy speller myself. (I don't know if I got Brodeur right) I believe the expression was "Lord Stanley Lord Stanley Give Me The Brandy," but I have not heard it for a decade. Moving out of Pittsburgh, Mike Lange may be what I miss the most. Go Pens

A random thought...Does anyone know if there is an Arnold Slick in Turtle Creek?

The Penguins are loaded with young talent. However, I don't see them doing very much in the playoffs. The first reason is their inconsistency over the course of the season & the second reason is their youth. Sure, there are veterans like Mark Recchi there that have won Stanley Cups, but you have to remember that the stars on this team are in their early 20's. Look out for the Penguins in the future though.

I think the 2007 playoffs will be a learning experience for the Penguins' young guns. A first round playoff lost this year sets them up for a long run to the conference finals in 2008.

If they get a stud stay at home defenseman and a punishing 2 way forward that may work. Look for Brian Leetch or a Gary Roberts type of player. They need someone in the dressing room with Recchi to provide some more playoff expereince.

There 14-0-2 in there last 16 games and they manhandled New Jersey last nigth in New Jersey. I think they at least make it to the third round if not the Finals. As long as they play the way they have been and Fleury steps it up (he has been giving up a lot of goals) they will be fine and the team to beat in the playoffs.

i'm hoping they bypass out in the first round of the playoffs, yet more beneficial than in all probability it is going to likely be in the second one. very last 3 hundred and sixty 5 days they performed the Sens in the first round at the same time as that they had an similar volume of issues after the commonplace season and looked like a pee-wee crew taking area in with the tremendous boys.

depends on where they finish if any lower than 5th the top echelon teams will crush them in the first round (Buffalo for sure) but a 4-5 finish and they should be able to reach the second round. No cup for this team though this year. Plus that 14-0-2 look who they played and more importantly look how many overtimes they went into. Canadiens TWICE losing one Leafs, Flyers, Blackhawks sorry this is not that good of a team.

Ya I agree with that. Being a big Penguins fan I would love for them to go the whole way. Realisticly though, they cant compete with the devils or thrashers for a 7 game series. Just too inconsistent on defense.

i would say at least 2nd round more than less likely 3rd because the top argument against is inconsistency... i think all of therreins line mixing crap just started to pay off. even the fourth line is producing.
Recchi-Crosby-Malone
Staal-Malkin-Ouellet
Talbot-Christensen-Armstrong
Ruutu-Petro-Moore
what teams line can take these?
