There is probaly 10 or more superwalmarts in the Kansas City area and many regulal walmarts also a few walmart neghiborhood grocery stores.
There is a VA hospital on the Missouri side on Van Brunt and another VA hospital on the Kansas side in Lansing.
There is many fine hospitals all over the metro area that give excellent care such as Saint Lukes, Providence, Kansas University Medical Center just to name a few out of many, Realestate is mixture of older homes in established neighborhoods and new homes in the newest subdivisions. Homes go for as little as $12,000 for fixerupers in the inner city upwards to multi million dollar homes.
Olathe, Shawnee Mission, Blue Valley school districs in Johnson County Kansas are the top rated on the Kansas Side.
North Kansas City, Liberty, Belton and Raymore/Peculiar school districts on the Missouri side is also top rated.Weather includes all 4 seasons and can get above 100 o F and well below 0. There is jobs available but not many right now that pay a decent wage. The groth seems to be in souther Johnson County with the new Intermodal hub going in Gardner as well as many factorys in Gardner's industrial area in the old Naval Air Station. Also you can buy a new home in Gardner for around $150,000 for a single family home and $125,000 for a new townhouse. Also Wal-Mart recently opened a super center in Gardner and Olathe is a short 10 minute drive away with Olathe Medicial Center and plenty of shopping and resturants.

Good luck

We live in Liberty, Missouri about 10 miles north of downtown. Very affordable housing are available in this area. There is a super Walmart at the corner of Highway 152 and Interstate 35. Liberty Hopsital is 2 miles north of the Walmart. Liberty High School (Bluejays) is a very good academic school as well as many sports opportunities. There is churches of all religion and some very large congregations in the area. This is an up and growing area, even though it is rich in history of the area from the 1800's. The freeway system is real nice you can get anywhere in the Kansas City Metro Area in 30 minutes. Kansas city has over 300 miles of small communties that make up the metro area. Many very nice areas. In 2006, Missouri was ranked the 5th state and Kansas was named the 7th in cost of living index of affordable living states. As far as crime, yes we have that too. But it is not like big cities. We have a 3600 square foot, 4 bedroom 3 bathroom house and we paid $180,000 in 2004. In the Liberty area there are so many businesses that hire teenagers for part time jobs. My kids all have found jobs realtively easy. My son came here a year ago and got a job with the Unio Pacific Railroad, great pay and good benefits. My husband has a great job with the Post Office. Hope this helps you.

Lenexa and Olathe Kansas is also a great place to look at for employment, housing and good schools.

Kansas City has so many sub divisions (Raytown, Lee's Summit, Olathea, Overland Park, North Kansas City, Grandview, etc.). I'm from the "hood" in Kansas City, and it gets bad sometimes depending on where you live in the city. Some ignorant white man on here said that crime is only where the blacks live, of course that's no where near true. May I recommend North Kansas City though, or Independence, Missouri, perhaps Blue Springs. You'll find nice schools, great shopping malls, and you'll be minutes way from downtown Kansas City in either direction. The job market is great, but it'll be great if you have a college degre in some area. If you move to North KC, you can attend Maple Woods Community College, if you live in the metro area, there's UMKC, and Penn Valley along with the Kansas City Art Institute. Good luck with everything.

I really love Kansas City, Missouri. I really like north of the city. You might look into places like Riverside, Parkville, and Gladstone. They have low crime rates and good schools. Also, it's only 20 minutes from downtown KC so there's lots to do! There are Super Walmarts and really good hospitals. UMKC has a really good medical program and there is a really good hospital in North Kansas City. Whatever you do, DO NOT MOVE INTO AN AREA THAT GOES TO KANSAS CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT!!! It is terrible! It lost its accreditation a few years ago and has yet to recover! Houses are cheap in KC because it's the midwest and that's how it is here. The worst weather we have are tornadoes. They are seasonal, like hurricanes, and happen about once or twice a year. They usually aren't too bad, though. I have never known anyone who has been hit. Good luck!

KC MO has a lot of crime and I think it's dirty and unappealing as a home. The Kansas side seems to be a lot better. Smaller, but with nice suburbs that are growing very quickly, like Olathe, Overland Park and Gardner.

There are just as many churches and respectable schools around KC KS as any other place in the U.S. The weather is mild, but the winters can be brutal and we are in Tornado Alley here.

Probably one of the best places to live is Raytown, Missouri. It is just east of Kansas City on 350 Highway. One of the biggest churches in the area is First Baptist Raytown. Very friendly church with modern contemporary services. Also, the police are very protective of their city and do not tolerate crime.

KCK sucks full of Mexicans
Wallmart is everwhere
Crime is only where the blacks are
Houses are only cheap in lousy neighborhoods.
North of the RIver in Kansas City, Not North Kansas City(as seperate town) is crime and black free and the best place unless you have the money to move out to one of the suburbs where ther is no crime but expensive houses.
VA hospital that I know of is on east side of KC in a typically bad black neighborhood. Several miles to the east is town of Independence the "most segregated town in America" that might be a place to check out.
KC is so spread out that it would take days to really become familiar with it. Jobs are also spread out. BUt in general the center of city is worst and it gets better the further and whiter you get.
Drive around, talk to people
Its going to be alot colder in winther than your used to. Its not too bad though. Summer will be somewhat better than NO.

K.C. Mo has everything you want or need. There is crime but not so bad it's intolerable. I'm in Iowa & would love to move there myself! I have friends who live there & love it. The people on average there are nice, friendly people.
