It is quite simple when you write and organize all the information. Since the Norweigian lives in the first house, and lives next to the blue house, the blue house is second in line. Then, because the green house is next to and to the left of the white house, the order has to be white, then green. So, so far, the order is 1) red or yellow 2) blue. Then, there are two options for the 3,4, and 5th choices. The first option is: 3) red or yellow 4) white 5) green. The second option is 3) white 4) green 5) red or yellow. When considering these two options along with the previous ordering of 1 and 2, there are only two possibilities for the ordering of the colors of the houses: yellow, blue, white, green, red; or yellow, blue, red, white green.
You can try out both of the combinations along with the hints given, and one of the two (the WBRYG) will work out so that the German owns the fish.

You need to try this yourself. It's actually fun! Make yourself a grid using Excel, 30 squares by 30 squares....
Down the side in a separate space, list your cigar names, animal names, nationalities, colors and drinks. Do the same across the top. By using "x" and "o" you can solve the puzzle. "x" out where two same names occur. Ex. Red down the side, "x"s out Red across the top.... By using the clues given you can complete the problem. Find the British column and where it meets with the colors put an "o" in red and "x" in all other colors. Then put an "x" for the Danish, Swede, British and Norwegian.....
May take a while and you will have to keep reading, but it works!!

Albert Einstein created this question and predicted that only 10% of the population would be able to solve it. It's nearly impossible to solve it in under an hour as it takes numerous guesses and attempts to come to the right answer. I've heard it before and I think the answer is the German. (to be honest I couldn't figure it out after like 20 minutes and gave up)
