Hi. It's okay to be nervous especially with your first one. That's actually part of the whole experiance. I'm having my third little one inabout 6 weeks and to be honest I only have about 6 outfits for her. And none of them are for newborns! I'm way behind I know. The only reason we have a crib is cause my 2 1/2 year old was still in it up until a week ago when we bought her her own bed.
Anyways, you can deffinitly start buying stuff now. I know I need to! This is actually a good time to start with the baby furniture that way you can start painting/decortaing/or what ever your going to do with the baby room. I think that will be the biggest thing to take care of. That way as you bring home baby clothes and assesories you can star putting them away where they are going to go. And if you start now you have more then enough time to do it at your own pace. Which for us pregos can be a little slower then most.

i have 2 children and i would say start gathering stuff now. it costs a lot of money and some things can be very expensive. if u plan on finding out the sex of the baby u may want to wait for clothes or just start out with yellow and green. get all kinds of sizes too. some babies can be quite large. the first thing i worry about are cribs. if possible try and get something that can convert into a bed later. this will save money. also make sure u get a good car seat. the hospital will not let u leave with out having a car seat first. even if u dont have a car. stroller is also important. the baby will need support for the head and need to be able to lay back. there are a lot of things u need to plan. good luck .

It's never too early to start doing your research and finding out what you would like to have for your baby. When it comes right down to it all you really NEED is somewhere for the baby to sleep, something for the baby to eat, something for the baby to wear, a carseat, and diapers. Get those basics covered first, then you can go on to all the little fun things like a swing, bouncer, changing table, mobile, tummy time mat, etc.
If someone throws you a shower you'll want to register for the specific items you want (and register for lots of diapers).

People should throw you a baby shower and bring you gifts...........that never happened for me, but that's what friends and family are supposed to do , to keep your stress low. If you don't have people like that.........start now. but about 10 onesies, all the diapers you can afford, a few blankets, socks, a crib, bottles, bottle brush cleaner, crib sheets, a mobile, and a baby monitor. Thats all I remeber off the top of my head.

You can go ahead and buy furniture and things now. If someone wants to throw you a baby shower, you can go to Babies R Us or a similar place and start a registry--this will tell people what you need.
Don't worry...you'll survive!
