Most flattish flowers can be pressed in a book or simple flower press. A rose is so large and complex, you might be better off drying it. Just hang it upside down for a couple of weeks, and you'll have a dried rose. You can also dry flowers in silica gel. The colors stay better, but it is more expensive.

Put between sheets of paper towel and something heavy on top or between the pages of a book perhaps of poetry or a bible where the rose reminds you of certain printed thoughts.Store the book horizontally with weight on top for several weeks . If the rose isn't dry yet wait a while or sprinkle borax on it and then after a day or two shake it gently to remove the borax then press . Borax will be found among laundry wash products.
You can also put dry rose petals in a closed pretty container and enjoy their fragrance for a long time.Set it in a place (Bedroom or Bath) where a sniff might reawaken fond memories

roses don't press well. if you hang it upside down it will dry and you can keep it like that. pressed roses have a bad habit of falling apart.
