Yes, although people in cities usually get water from the city source.
You need to be more specific as to what society you are talking about. People in rural societies often have wells or cisterns. People in remote desert locations sometimes have a truck come in and bring in a tank filled with water. Also you need to be specific if you're talking about a developed country, where tap water is readily availble, or an undeveloped country, where many people would go to a stream or community well.

I live in society, but not a CITY. I have my own well.
