I was hoping that even internet texts may have some sort of electronic signature which can be traced to a particular pc via ip number etc. The number that it is seemingly sent from is 20666 and one message came through as Watcher, as though i had that name in my contacts, which i havent. The help of some tech wizards would be much appreciated, thanks.

Yes. Everything can be traced back to originating computer. I seems as though you spoke to a policeman who is not net-savvy.

Have a word with your phone network provider first and see if they are able to help.
At the cop-shop ask to speak to a specialist who understands about mobile telephony and you should get satisfaction.

Sending threatening text messages is a specific offence under the Wireless Telegraphy Act and will get the perpetrator into deep trouble with the law.

Don't give up.

Yes, they can be traced. You need to contact your cell phone provider first and let them know what is happening. These incoming messages should show up on your bill detail. Times, dates and all.

Call the police and record all the messages you get. Write down what they say.

They may not be directed at you, they may be a bad joke or someone may have the wrong cell phone number.

No matter what, I wouldn't take it lightly.

reverse phone number search compiles hundreds of millions of phone book records to help locate the owner's name, location, time zone, email and other public information.

Use a reverse phone lookup to:
Get the identity of an unknown caller.
Identify an area code.
Recall the name of a person whose number you wrote down.
Identify an unfamiliar phone number that shows up on your bill.

Of course they can, you have to sign a release at your wireless
dealer to allow the police to view your records or tap it. Everything can be traced, even in the golden age of wireless--
trust me and Good Luck!!

I am sure it COULD be done, but your police department has not invested the money and effort. You'd have to find a forensic computer scientist who is willing to work for the slave wages that police officers get paid. If they are that good, the could work for the FBI or private industry.

BTW: Who hates you that much?

Sure can, you would have to find out which website it came from, and then they can trace the IP address.
