You say you just got a promotion, did you get a raise when you got the promotion? If yes, then company proceedures may not allow it (you did not say you are working for a large company or a small company or not). Presuming you are working for a small company, where the $$$ decision comes from your boss (owner). The easiest way is to document your performance, where you have saved him money and ask for a raise.

IF you work for a large company, show the evaluators where you are meeting and exceeding your goals and expectations, where you are saving the company money and then request an increase that is within the yearly allocation.

For the companies I have worked for (both small and large), the best way to get a raise was to go out and find another job, ask the current employer to beat the salary (if you inflate it too much, they may tell you to take the offer - so do not do this unless you have the paper in hand).
