what does voltes mean? Yahoo's Literati allowed this word...I never heard of it.

The word "volte" can mean one of two things (that I know of):

1) A maneuver performed in formal horse dressage, in which the horse is turned in a very tight circle.

2) The Anglicized spelling of "Lavolta" a formal dance of the Renaissance period.

It is a word, the plural of volte, a move in fencing.
