Hes at the age where he wants to enjoy him self. He has a little bit of freedom now. Im 24 now and i was exactly the same. If he works hard during the week but goes out at the weekend . Whats the problem-don t most teenagers do that??. I would just let him get on with it.I believe you are all giving advice on drinking web-sites. He's 16 and starting to explore what he can do. and do you really think you can stop a 16 year old going out??

I think it's fairly standard in the UK.I 'm assuming falling over drunk and Sunday spent in bed then a fry up sleeping on sofa and being grouchy? For heavens sake don't preach be grateful it's only Saturday and it's not drugs! If he works hard then he has hope. It will do absolutely no good to tell him he is destroying his brain cells and liver he won't see that far ahead. I know you won't like this but if you were to pick him up at the end of the night you would be protecting him from some of the worst that could happen, tell him you are saving the taxi fare and he can pay you if he likes. Yes I know it can be 2 am and yes I have driven 20 miles at 4 am to collect my daughter. Yes she did grow out of it. A lot of us are sitting here with a glass of something, over indulgence is par for the course at his age.

not just for his age ,how much do think he drink´s at the weekend. is he coming home falling all over the place . I think you should sit down and have a family chat . there could be problem´s in his life . thing´s he´s keeping to himself It could just be the age .Well lucky he´s not out through the week , then you would have much more to worry about . have the chat

If he had a drink problem I would suspect he would be drinking every day.
when I was younger and I imagine most kids, all do it, I wouldn't worry too much, he's becoming an adult and experimenting, lets hope after a few bad hangovers, he will calm down.

Hes 16, so how the hell is he managing to get the alcohol in the first place. If he is buying it from local shops, you need to go round them with a picture of your son and point out to them that he is underage and they are breaking the law by selling him alcohol. Sit him down and explain to him your concerns and ask him to stop

Why do you allow him too?
Sorry not judging as I don't think raising teenagers is easy.
From my own experience, my mum allowed me to drink alcohol at the weekend providing it was in moderation.
If I came hom legless then I was in for the high jump.....
Hope you find a way to work through.

Problem is the music subculture he is in...

You usually dont get this with meatl/ rock, alterntive and hippie rave types but certainly with more chav type crowds.

If the drinking gets him violent, constantly hung over, if he is unpleasant or violent when drunk etc.

its a problem.

Contact these agencies esp lifeline.

He is also young and its all new so maybe trying to work out limits... teens tend to do things to excess.

Helps if in nightclubs as opposed to pubs as more to do
