if you get a big tank (30 gallons) they will separate themselves on opposite sides. it should be well planted and give them lots of territory.

i have males from the same family i bought together at the petstore and sometimes they live fine together and sometimes they don't.

if you breed them and keep the fry together you have to be ready to separate them. ones that get along are the exception and not the rule. you need to be prepared to separate them when they start picking fights and acting aggressively -- so if anything is left living happily together than you have male bettas that can live together.

you should also consider stress too -- if they aren't swimming around but keeping in one spot they are being territorial of their little spot and completely stressed out from always being scared of a betta brawl breaking out. this is not a good option!

females can be kept together, I have a tank with 8 females in it. males, no. they can be kept together in tank 50+gallons, but this is only if the tank is heavily planted and neither knows the other is there, which isn't really living peacefully so much as living obliviously.

*edit*
I've never tried it, and I know some people say ti can be done, but i really don't see it being possibly. it is their natural instinct to stake out a territory and protect it. in the wild they are all together until they go to a certain age, the age they all start flaring. at that age they can just swim away form each other, but in a tank there is no where to go to get away from each other and they'll just attack. in the wild if they couldn't get away they'd fight, so what would be different jsut because they're in a tank? nothing.

Not sure what you are asking. If you want to know if two betta will live together in peace then the answer is no, they will eventually fight.

Yeah ATLEAST a 50 gallon tank and heavily planted. In general a male betta will attack any other male. But putting one beta in a friendly community tank, it will do fine.
