"Tammy Faye became addicted to tranquilizers at the height of the PTL scandal and underwent treatment. Three years into Bakker's prison term she filed for divorce, and married Roe Messner, who was awaiting sentencing for bankruptcy fraud. The empress of eye shadow then launched a short-lived (two month) career as cohost of The Jim J. and Tammy Faye Show. (She soon managed to get over the fact that Jim was gay.) The secular show, which producer Brian Graden described as "Regis and Kathie Lee on acid," had been well-received, but
she felt she needed out. "It would be worth it if the efforts were for the work of the Lord," she said in a statement, "But the rigorous tape schedule and stress...is more than I can handle at this personally difficult time in my life." She ended up driving a Honda Accord, and purchasing cubic zirconia. But one thing remains the same: "I'll change my makeup," she proclaims, giggling, "when Dolly Parton has
size-32 boobs."
"Tammy Faye Bakker is the now estranged wife of Jim Bakker, the PTL (Praise The Lord) Club televangelist who brought that particular ministry to fame, fortune and disaster. Born in International Falls, Minnesota in 1942, Tammy Faye LaValley was raised by her mother and stepfather in a family of eight children. She attended North Central College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she met and married Jim Bakker in 1961. Bakker acted as co-host on her husband's hugely successful televangelist program from 1974 into the mid 1980s, when the show was rocked by scandal and Jim Bakker was eventually convicted and served prison time for his financial misdealing with the PTL Ministry.
Bakker divorced her husband in 1992 during his third year in prison and married a former PTL associate, Roe Messner, who himself later ended up in prison for bankruptcy fraud. She has since divorced Messner and gone on to head up a wig sales business, author some literary works, one of which tells her story about the PTL scandal in (Tammy: Telling It My Way), as well as having made a failed attempt to enter the talk show realm. Bakker has also had medical problems, undergoing treatment for colon cancer in a California hospital.

"December 13, 2006
Dear Friends;
It’s little ole me. Just wanted to give you an update. So many of you have sent me e-mails and cards with well wishes and notes of encouragement, which mean so much to me, thank you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers.
I’m doin' ok. Still have some good days and some not so good. Trying to eat to get my strength back and to put some meat on my bony butt. Ha Ha!
Thanksgiving was uneventful this year - everybody behaved themselves. Had a wonderful time with my kids and grandkids. It is such a blessing to have my family here to spend time with me.
Sorry this is so short again this time, but I just wanted you to know that I am still around, maybe not shopping as much as I usually do but still try and get out every once in a while. Don’t believe all the garbage you read in the tabloids & hear on TV.
I am still believing in the Lord for a complete healing. Please keep me in your prayers. To all of you who have e-mailed me with prayer requests, I am keeping you in my prayers as well.
God bless you all. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone.
Love,
Tammy Faye"

Yes, and she looked like a fright. Poor thing. What a terrible way to die, basically starving to death. Rest in Peace, Tammy Faye.

In the last episode of "One Punk Under God" they made it known that her conditioned had deteriorated markedly and would no longer show her on camera in the interest of the family's privacy.
I don't know if anyone other than her family, friends, and doctors know much more.
