(Get the "r" an "e" round he right way. Don't spell it "meters" like some of the correspondents, that's how you spell it when referring to things like gas meters or speedometers)

Wind speed is sometimes given in Knots, i.e. nautical miles per hour.

I think that m/s, when on wind speed, means "miles per seconds"

It is just denoting units for speed measurement without which serious consequences could occur if the data is misunderstood.

Generally, it is Meters per second and often noted as: ms-1.

metres per second - basically if the wind is travelling at 50m/s then in one second it would travel 50 metres (theoretically 50 m/s is not very accurate! )
