Besides my screaming, I hear a "plink, plink noise"

It does indeed- and one of the coolest things in the world is to sit at the window during a snow storm at night, with all the lights off, and just watch (and listen) to it fall. Very peaceful :)

When I was in Maryland it snowed during the winter and I did listen to it. It's very quiet, the air moving through them makes a very faint noise as it's falling. Very relaxing. But also very cold.
