My SAT score is a 2120 and I got a 700 in math, 730 in writing, and 690 in critical reading. Is this score good enough to get me into the more selective colleges?

Your score is good for most good colleges. Your weakness in critical reading happen to be the most important section of the SATs. (I learned this at a SAT seminar) You could probably get into most of the UCs however Berkley still expects an almost perfect score. The SAT scores aren't everything on for acceptance. A lot of other stuff can make up for it. Honestly, you probably can't get into Harvard, Yale, or Princeton even if everything else seem really good and outstanding. But your score still is still good for a lot of other high ranking colleges.

It helps. Most colleges (especially the selective ones) are not using SAT scores or grades to the degree they used to decide who they admit. While good a score on your SAT helps, they're looking for well rounded students with excellent grades, high test scores and also strong extracirricular activities. The key word is balance.

Your scores are very strong, especially considering your writing is the best. Being a strong writer is important in applying to great schools because it gives you a chance to set yourself apart. I would say you would be a strong candidate for very selective schools (Cal-Berkley, Columbia) but might fall short with the uber-selective schools (Harvard, Stanford) unless you have an incredible GPA or amazing accomplishments outside of the classroom.

I took the old SATs, and my score was 1430. Yours together is the same as mine.

Know what school I'm at?

University of Pennsylvania.

As long as you have good grades, good test scores, a good app. essay, and some extracurriculars, you'll be fine
