could be a virus... Try to scan your computer for viruses. IF thats not the problem it could be a recently updated driver that you installed that's causing your computer to shutdown.

Had this problem with my vaio also. after a few weeks, the disk would just crash and i'ld have to format and load the OS with the restore cd. Turned out that the hard disk was the problem all along. the needle or something. anyway, took out the hdd, put another one in and its been fine since then. Try taking out the batt (mind not to void ur warranty). shake it gentky. if you hear any moving parts, get a new one. your case may not be as serious though, could be an overheating thing. try to keep the vents unblocked when in use.

Have you Cleared your registry lately?...invalid enties build up and cause problems...if not ,i think you may need to get a( registry cleaner) installed..Norton anti virus does not clear them.There are many other reasons too.GOOD LUCK

either a overheating issue or your battery is going south. they are only good for 2 yrs
