My friend bought an extra hard drive for her computer. She wants to know how to get her computer to start reading the E drive instead of automatically reading the C.

Click F3 or F8 (depending on PC type) and set drive E:\ as the bootable drive, unselect drive C:\. Just be sure that there is n OS that can run on the other drive, or else it's useless

If you want the computer to boot from the E drive, you need to go into the system BIOS. You do this but holding down one of the f# keys during boot up ( normally f6 or f8, but it can be different ). From there, go to the boot tab and change the order of how it boots. This will tell the computer to look for the operating system on that drive first.

The Edrive would have to be the only bootable drive on the system for it to boot from E, in which i would be C.
look on mocrosoft.com for info on the Boot.ini file.

with that you can point the system to boot from the Edrive instead of C...

you set the new drive as master if that is what your friend wants then your have to install windows on to the new drive and set everything up

The "C" force is only approximately easily your stressful force that has your device working device on and your default force. "E" force from what you're describing is your optical CD/DVD force and under properties devoid of disc in shows complete
