I am adopted also...My birthmother found me in a very odd manner, that turned out just to be fait....Its a very long story...But befoer she found me there resources i used were these.
NATIONAL SOUNDEX REUNION REISTRY
http://www.adopteerights.org/regday/pdf/isrr_info.pdf
This is the best way to start your search,it is the most used adoption reistry in the US.It is open for birth parents adopptees and family members of adopted people.
If you have information on a social worker who handled your case contact them, and ask questions.
Also any laywer who handled your case,if or once he retires he is no longer under oath and if he wants and remebers your case can give you information.
If you can somehow get the name of the Dr. that delivered you, talk to them.Somtimes the birthmother will stay useing the same Dr. (my birthmother did this) and even tho they cannot give you information, they could pass it along if it is the case.Always give out your phone number so people can reach you.
A search is hard with such limited information, utlize everything you know of..
I hope I helped in some way,and I wish you the best of luck!
And as you know your real parents are right in front of you. They are the ones that have taken care of you and loved you all this time...I know i feel that way about my mom and dad.

Your real parents are the ones that raised you. Your birth parents are the ones that gave you up for adoption. Register with state registries where you were born, the ISRR and if you were adopted through an agency, ask for non-identifying information and any other info they can give you.

Who raised you? If you were adopted, your "real parents" are the ones who raised you and took care of your illnesses, went to school plays, etc. If you're talking about your birth parents, look into your birth state's information about adoption. It would depend on your situation and state as to what you can find out. Try http://www.adoption.com

you can start by going to the adoption agency you were adopted from. if you can find out there names and addresses from them you can find them. also if you already know their names you can go to yellow pages and type them in to try and find them.
