How can anyone defend the UN? They recently said that 18,000 children every day die from hunger. That's really nice thought, but that would mean the 6,570,000 children die every year from hunger. Just from hunger. That doesn't include disease, war, s, and other causes. Just children. Does that add up?

Yes it adds up.

You need to remove your head from wherever you keep it and get a feeling for the scale of things in the world.

If I were to ask you haw many people are killed in the U.S. by automobiles in a year, you probably wouldn't come anywhere close. Figure it out, go look up the numbers for yourself. Hint, it is more than 5/hour.

First let's get the facts straight. As reported by the BBC

"Nearly six million children die from hunger or malnutrition every year, the Food and Agriculture Organisation says.

Many deaths result from treatable diseases such as diarrhoea, pneumonia, malaria and measles, the agency says."

(The FAO is a UN agency, so I am guessing that is the source of your information.)

I take that to mean the figure includes malnutrution due to disease.

Most of the estimates I find are in that vacinity. If interested see the sources listed.

I'm still waiting for a fact. All you have given is an opinion that you think the number is high. A fact would be a different estimate from a credible source.

Yes, that sounds about right. Apparently you have no idea just how many people are in the world and the low standard of living most people endure (Hint: Industrialized nations ARE NOT the norm.)

Kind of like Cons saying 42 million fetuses died because of abortion since Roe v. Wade.

That would mean that over 3,000 fetuses are being aborted every day.

Looks like Cons need to check their math too.
