My partner and I also have the same phone and I can tell you that the blue light is the light sensitivity. It allows your phone to set the screen brightness according to where you are. You may have noticed that the darker your surroundings, the more the light flashes. To stop the light from flashing, you need to follow these steps, in order: go to settings, phone, display, light sensor. Push the light sensor all the way to the left and it will desensitise the light. This will stop it from flashing.

If it's on the phone itself, then it's probably just showing you that you have service, or a voicemail or something. Without knowing where the light is, it's hard ot answer, though.
