I will be a first time mommy, but I bought both. I do not believe either are necessary, but I think they will be a nice way to entertain the baby while I am doing house work and stuff. Also, we bought a bouncer that folds up for travel that way we can take it to Grandmas house and so forth in case baby wants to snooze. If you are worried about price bouncers range from 40 on up, but I do know swings are more expensive. You can also try second hand stores, they really do have some great deals. Good luck to you.

I would say that both is necessary. Your child may get tired of swing and may get tired of just sitting there and not be able to do anything in the bouncer. You would want to alternate the swing and the bouncer, so you don't give her to much time in one. When I had my daughter she had everything. Even the toys for to play with on the floor. They say if you hold a baby all the time you can spoil them, which I think is a lie. You will see your baby might not like them or she might just love them and want to be in it all the time.

i am pregnant with my third, the bouncer i never used with my first, he loved his swing but was a very big baby and couldnt use it past 5 months old, my daughter now a year only liked the swing when she was a baby in the first few months, maybe first 2 months and then loved the bouncer until she could sit up every baby has their preference i dont think it is a necessity to have both but i would invest in a swing before the bouncer

No, but they do help if your child needs comforting, or if you need to get some other things done!. I had them both, but I would recommend the bouncer (if you have a good one) It is more portable, and has all the same features the swing does, except for the swinging part of course! They have the rocking ones that go from side to side or front to back though. Ex: I used to put my daughter in her bouncer in the bathroom with me when I had to take a shower, with the bathroom door open of course! Good luck. Hope this helped.

a swing will lull the baby to sleep or just relax the baby. A bouncer technically does the same thing with the vibration. But I find if you trying to decide which to get one or the other, I would go with the swing. But get a GOOD one. The cheaper ones dont hold up to constant use. Our kid grew out of his, we are using it again on our second due in May. The bouncer we used for his bassinet since he didnt take to his actual bassinet or it just nice to set him in once in a while. Use your best judgement.
You can always go get a bouncer later on.

i bought my son a bouncer .. that doubled as a bassinet .. and hes never really used it except when we were staying the night somewhere .. i found the fisher price aquarium take along swing to be the best. it allows them to sit comfortably and the lights and music are very entertaining. it was a lifesaver the first 2 months of my sons life.

Both are not necessary but are very useful :0) We had both and the swing has lasted us through 3 babies, and we just got a new bouncy seat for our 3rd. The swing is nice because it can lull the baby to sleep or calm them down with the motion, but it has to stay in one place they aren't really easy to move. A bouncy seat is fabulous for all different reasons! The new ones have a vibrating switch which was great in soothing my fussy baby. They can just relax in the seat while you need both hands, it's great for feeding if you've got other littles ones climbing on you while trying to bottle feed the baby. (my oldest loved it because she was able to feed the baby while the baby was in the seat) I also enjoyed the use of this seat because if I needed to take a shower I could just strap my daughter into the seat and bring her into the bathroom with me and she loved the sound of the running water and the music.
If you were to choose between one I would go with the bouncy seat, like this one because the toys are entertaining as they get older but are removable:

For swings if you go with one I would get one that swings two ways like this:

The swings that are like a papasan chair are hard because once the baby gets older and bigger you can't really sit them in there comfortably, I always feel like my niece is going to tumble out (and she's buckled in)

Neither are necessary. Theyre just convenient ways of occupying and entertaining your baby.
Swings you can use from birth, bouncers they have to be holding their heads up, so you tend to have both.

It is not necessary.
The bouncer will help build their muscles in their legs.

Neither one is necessary for any children, young ones enjoy the swing and then when older love to jump up and down in the jumper, mine did anyway.
